On the field, Cowboy was fearless, courageous and uncompromising at every contest he was involved in. He was always willing to put his body on the line for his teammates, while playing the game with fairness, respect and sportsmanship. This carried over to training, where we are not sure whether he ever missed a session in his time at Greensborough!

Off the field, Cowboy was a loyal and generous mate who was always willing to lend a hand whenever help was needed. His commitment to his friends was second to none.

This award honours the player who demonstrates the same courage, selflessness, loyalty, fairness and unwavering commitment that made Neale “Cowboy” Carroll such a respected and much-loved member of the club.
